History of Apple Inc.

Apple Inc., formerly known as Apple Computer, Inc., is a multinational technology company based in Cupertino, California. The company was founded on April 1, 1976, by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. Apple Inc. is known for its significant contributions to the technology industry, including the development of the Apple I, Apple II, Macintosh, iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

Founding and Incorporation[edit | edit source]

Apple Inc. was established on April 1, 1976, by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. The company's first product, the Apple I, was introduced the following year. The Apple I was a personal computer kit, which was hand-built by Wozniak and first shown to the public at the Homebrew Computer Club.

Apple II and Success[edit | edit source]

The Apple II was introduced on April 16, 1977, at the first West Coast Computer Faire. It differed from its major rivals, the TRS-80 and Commodore PET, due to its character cell-based color graphics and open architecture. The Apple II was the company's flagship product for the next decade.

Macintosh and the 1980s[edit | edit source]

In 1984, Apple launched the Macintosh, the first personal computer to be sold without a programming language. Its debut was signified by "1984", a $1.5 million commercial directed by Ridley Scott that aired during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII on January 22, 1984.

iPod, iPhone, and iPad[edit | edit source]

In 2001, Apple introduced the iPod, a portable music player, which became immensely popular and had a profound impact on the music industry. In 2007, Apple entered the smartphone market with the iPhone, which has since become a key part of the company's business. In 2010, Apple launched the iPad, a tablet computer with a multi-touch interface.

Present Day[edit | edit source]

Today, Apple Inc. continues to innovate and lead the technology industry with its products and services. The company's current product line includes the iPhone, iPad, Macintosh computers, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, among others.
