Hitchcock Estate
Hitchcock Estate
The Hitchcock Estate is a historic property located in Millbrook, New York, United States. It is also known as Daisy Hill Farm and has been a significant part of the region's history since the late 19th century.
History[edit | edit source]
The Hitchcock Estate was originally established by Thomas Hitchcock Sr., a prominent figure in American polo and thoroughbred horse racing. He purchased the property in 1880 and transformed it into a luxurious country estate. The estate was later inherited by his son, Thomas Hitchcock Jr., who continued his father's legacy in horse racing and polo.
Architecture[edit | edit source]
The main house on the Hitchcock Estate is a fine example of American Georgian architecture. It features a symmetrical facade, a central entrance, and a hipped roof. The interior of the house is equally impressive, with a grand staircase, high ceilings, and detailed woodwork.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
The Hitchcock Estate has played a significant role in the history of Millbrook and the wider Hudson Valley region. It has been a hub for social events and has hosted many notable guests over the years. Today, the estate continues to be a symbol of the area's rich history and cultural heritage.
