HoneyBaked Ham
HoneyBaked Ham is a food retailer founded in 1957 that sells Honey Baked Ham, Turkey Breasts and other pre-cooked entrées, side dishes, and desserts.
History[edit | edit source]
Harry J. Hoenselaar opened the first HoneyBaked Ham store in Detroit, Michigan in 1957. Hoenselaar invented the spiral-slicing process, which is patented by the company. The HoneyBaked Ham Company has grown to over 200 company-owned retail stores and 200 franchise locations across the United States.
Products[edit | edit source]
The HoneyBaked Ham Company's signature product is a spiral-sliced, glazed ham. The ham is smoked for up to 24 hours and then spiral-sliced around the bone, allowing for each slice to be uniform in size and making the ham easier to serve. The ham is then glazed with a mixture of honey, sugar, and spices, which is caramelized under a blowtorch.
In addition to ham, the company also sells turkey breasts, beef, and pork roasts, as well as a variety of side dishes and desserts.
Business Model[edit | edit source]
The HoneyBaked Ham Company operates both company-owned stores and franchises. The company also sells products through its catalog and online store. The company's busiest time of year is the holiday season, with Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas being the most popular times for ham sales.
