Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) (Chinese: 香港都會大學 ) is a public university located in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was established in 1989 as the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong and was later renamed the Open University of Hong Kong before adopting its current name in 2021.

The university was founded in 1989 as the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong, with the aim of providing higher education opportunities to working adults and those who could not attend traditional universities. In 1997, it was granted university status and renamed the Open University of Hong Kong. In 2021, the institution was rebranded as Hong Kong Metropolitan University to reflect its comprehensive range of programs and its metropolitan character.

HKMU's main campus is located in Ho Man Tin, Kowloon. The university also has additional learning centers and facilities across Hong Kong to support its diverse student body.
