History[edit | edit source]

Hostess Brands was originally established as the Interstate Bakeries Corporation in 1919. The company went through several name changes and restructurings over the years. In 2009, it was renamed Hostess Brands, Inc. after its most popular brand.

In 2012, Hostess Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to a crippling strike by its workers. The company was bought by private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. in 2013, who revived the brand and its popular products.
