Hot Sam Pretzels
Hot Sam Pretzels is a chain of pretzel bakeries that was established in the United States. The company was founded in 1966 and was known for its signature soft pretzels.
History[edit | edit source]
Hot Sam Pretzels was founded in 1966 by J. Michael Jenkins. The first store was opened in Southfield, Michigan. The company quickly expanded and by the 1970s, Hot Sam Pretzels had become a common sight in shopping malls across the United States.
In 1990, the company was acquired by Auntie Anne's, another pretzel company. Despite the acquisition, many Hot Sam Pretzels locations continued to operate under the original brand name. However, by the early 2000s, most had been converted to Auntie Anne's stores.
Products[edit | edit source]
Hot Sam Pretzels was known for its soft, freshly baked pretzels. The company offered a variety of pretzel flavors, including traditional salted, cinnamon sugar, and garlic parmesan. In addition to pretzels, Hot Sam also sold pretzel dogs, which were hot dogs wrapped in pretzel dough, and pretzel bites, small pieces of pretzel perfect for snacking.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Despite no longer operating under the Hot Sam Pretzels name, the brand has left a lasting impact on the pretzel industry. Its focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients set a standard that many other pretzel companies strive to meet. The brand is also remembered fondly by many who grew up visiting Hot Sam Pretzels locations in their local shopping malls.
