Huang Yaoshi

Huang Yaoshi (黃藥師) is a fictional character in Jin Yong's wuxia novel The Legend of the Condor Heroes and its sequel, The Return of the Condor Heroes. He is one of the "Five Greats" (五絕), the five most powerful martial artists in the Jianghu during his time. Huang Yaoshi is also known as the "Eastern Heretic" (東邪) due to his unorthodox and eccentric behavior.

Huang Yaoshi is the master of Peach Blossom Island (桃花島), a secluded island filled with peach blossom trees. He is a highly skilled martial artist and a brilliant physician, known for his vast knowledge of medicine, poison, and martial arts. His unconventional methods and disdain for traditional norms earn him the nickname "Eastern Heretic."

Huang Yaoshi is portrayed as a complex character with a mix of admirable and controversial traits. He is fiercely independent, valuing freedom and individuality above all else. In the sequel, The Return of the Condor Heroes, Huang Yaoshi continues to be a prominent figure. He aids Yang Guo, the protagonist, and remains a respected and influential martial artist in the Jianghu.
