Hurricane

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Hurricane is a powerful, rotating storm that forms over warm ocean waters. These storms are known for their high winds, heavy rain, and potential for causing severe damage. Hurricanes are categorized on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the most severe.

Formation[edit | edit source]

Hurricanes form when warm, moist air over the ocean rises, creating an area of low pressure beneath. This causes cooler air to rush in, which then warms and rises as well. As this cycle continues, clouds form and begin to rotate due to the Earth's rotation. This rotation can lead to the formation of a hurricane if the conditions are right.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of a hurricane can be devastating. High winds can cause damage to buildings and infrastructure, while heavy rain can lead to flooding. In addition, hurricanes can also cause storm surge, a rise in sea level that can flood coastal areas.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

Preparation for a hurricane is crucial to minimize damage and ensure safety. This includes having a disaster plan in place, securing property, and having supplies on hand in case of power outages or other disruptions.
