Hyde County is a county located in the state of South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,300. The county seat is Highmore, which is also the largest city within the county. Hyde County was created in 1873 and organized in 1883. It is named after James Hyde, a Dakota Territory legislator.

Hyde County encompasses an area of 863 square miles, of which 861 square miles is land and 2 square miles (0.2%) is water. The county's terrain consists mainly of rolling plains.

As of the 2020 census, there were 1,300 people residing in the county. The demographic distribution reflects a rural population with a density of approximately 1.5 inhabitants per square mile.
