IPTBO
IPTBO (Internet Protocol Television Broadcast Operator) is a type of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service provider. IPTBOs deliver television content over IP networks. This is in contrast to traditional terrestrial, satellite, and cable television formats. Unlike downloaded media, IPTBO offers the ability to stream the source media continuously.
Overview[edit | edit source]
IPTBOs use the Internet to deliver television content, bypassing traditional methods of broadcast. This allows for a greater flexibility in content delivery, including features such as Video On Demand (VOD) and interactive TV. IPTBOs typically offer a range of services, including live television, time-shifted media (such as catch-up TV), and video on demand.
Technology[edit | edit source]
IPTBO services are delivered using the architecture of a Broadband network. This involves the use of packet-switched networks, which allow for the delivery of variable amounts of data. This contrasts with traditional broadcast networks, which use a constant stream of data.
The use of packet-switched networks allows for greater efficiency and flexibility, as data can be sent and received as needed, rather than in a constant stream. This also allows for greater scalability, as the network can be expanded or contracted as needed.
Regulation[edit | edit source]
As with other forms of broadcasting, IPTBOs are subject to regulation by national and international bodies. These regulations can vary widely, and may cover aspects such as content, advertising, and data protection.
In many countries, IPTBOs are required to hold a broadcasting license. This license may be subject to conditions, such as the provision of a certain amount of local content, or adherence to advertising standards.
