Ictineu 3

Ictineu 3 is a submersible that was designed and built in Catalonia, Spain. It is the third submersible to bear the name Ictineu, following the Ictineu I and Ictineu II, both designed by Narcís Monturiol in the mid-19th century. The Ictineu 3 is a modern interpretation of Monturiol's vision, designed to explore the underwater world in a safe and sustainable manner.

The Ictineu 3 project was initiated in 2005 by the Ictineu Submarins SL, a company dedicated to the design and construction of manned submersibles. The project aimed to create a submersible that could operate at depths of up to 1,200 meters, making it one of the deepest diving submersibles in the world.

The Ictineu 3 is designed to carry a crew of three people. It is equipped with a spherical cabin made of acrylic, which provides a panoramic view of the underwater environment. The submersible is powered by a fuel cell system, which allows for extended underwater operations without the need for surface support.
