Irwin, Pennsylvania
- Irwin is a borough in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States, 22 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Some of the earliest settlers in the region were from Ireland and Scotland, bringing with them their traditions and culture, which have significantly influenced the development of the city.

- Irwin was incorporated as a borough on June 14, 1864, and named after John Irwin, the original owner of the town site. The borough's economy was originally based on agriculture, but it quickly diversified into coal mining, railroad, and manufacturing industries.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Irwin is located at 40°19′26″N 79°42′26″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.9 square miles, all of it land.

- As of the census of 2000, there were 4,366 people, 2,084 households, and 1,131 families residing in the borough.
