Jørgen Vig Knudstorp

Jørgen Vig Knudstorp (born November 21, 1968) is a Danish businessman, best known for his role as the former CEO and current Executive Chairman of the LEGO Group.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Knudstorp was born in Fredericia, Denmark. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Aarhus University, where he received a degree in Economics and Business Administration. He later earned a Ph.D. in Business Economics from the same institution.

Career[edit | edit source]

Knudstorp began his career at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, where he worked from 1998 to 2001. He joined the LEGO Group in 2001 as the company's Director of Strategic Development. In 2004, at the age of 36, he was appointed CEO, becoming the first non-family member to lead the company.

Under Knudstorp's leadership, the LEGO Group underwent a significant transformation. He implemented a turnaround strategy that involved cost-cutting measures, a focus on core products, and an expansion into new markets. These changes helped the company recover from a period of financial instability and return to profitability.

In 2017, Knudstorp transitioned from his role as CEO to become the Executive Chairman of LEGO Brand Group, a new entity within the LEGO Group focused on brand-related activities.

Knudstorp is married and has four children. He is known for his passion for the LEGO brand and has often spoken about the importance of play in children's development.

Knudstorp's leadership at the LEGO Group has been widely recognized. He was named "CEO of the Year" by the Danish business magazine, Børsen, in 2006. In 2015, he was included in the list of "The World's 100 Most Influential People" by Time magazine.
