JWH-091
JWH-091 is a synthetic cannabinoid from the naphthoylindole family. It acts as a partial agonist at both the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors, with a relatively low affinity for the CB1 receptor.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
JWH-091 is a member of the naphthoylindole family of synthetic cannabinoids. It is structurally related to other synthetic cannabinoids such as JWH-018 and JWH-073. The compound is named after the initials of its developer, John W. Huffman, a chemist at Clemson University.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
JWH-091 acts as a partial agonist at both the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. It has a relatively low affinity for the CB1 receptor, which is primarily found in the brain and is responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis. The CB2 receptor, on the other hand, is primarily found in the immune system.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of JWH-091 are not well-studied. However, due to its action at the cannabinoid receptors, it is likely to produce effects similar to those of cannabis, including euphoria, relaxation, and altered perception. The potential for adverse effects, such as anxiety, paranoia, and psychosis, is also present.
Legal Status[edit | edit source]
The legal status of JWH-091 varies by country. In many places, it is considered a controlled substance due to its similarity to cannabis.
