Jack McNeela was born in County Mayo, Ireland. Little is known about his early life, but he became involved in the Irish Republican movement at a young age.

IRA Involvement[edit | edit source]

McNeela joined the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and quickly rose through the ranks due to his commitment and leadership skills. He was involved in various operations aimed at ending British rule in Ireland and establishing an independent Irish Republic.

Arrest and Imprisonment[edit | edit source]

In 1939, McNeela was arrested by the Irish Free State authorities for his involvement in IRA activities. He was imprisoned in Arbour Hill Prison in Dublin. During his imprisonment, McNeela continued to advocate for the rights of political prisoners and the cause of Irish independence.

Hunger Strike and Death[edit | edit source]

In 1940, McNeela and several other IRA prisoners went on a hunger strike to protest their treatment and to demand political status. After 55 days on hunger strike, Jack McNeela died on April 19, 1940. His death brought attention to the plight of IRA prisoners and galvanized support for the Irish Republican cause.
