Jacket
It is an artificial non metallic restoration made of porcelain, used to cover the all surfaces of the clinical crown. They were made up of High-fusing feldspathic or aluminous porcelain baked on a thin platinum foil.
Indications[edit | edit source]
- For anterior teeth.
- For severely discolored anterior teeth.
- Over an existing post and core substructure.
Contraindications[edit | edit source]
- In posterior teeth (when maximum retention and resistance is needed)
- In case of tooth with short clinical crown.
- In case of edge to edge or overbite occlusion.
- As a retainer for FPD.
Advantages[edit | edit source]
- They have the best cosmetic effect of all the dental restorations.
- They are very strong.
- They suite best for the anterior teeth.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
- They have high risk of fracture (because they are brittle).
