Jameela Alia Jamil (born 25 February 1986) is a British actress, presenter, and activist. She began her career on Channel 4, where she hosted a pop culture series in the T4 strand from 2009 until 2012. Jamil later became the first solo female presenter of the BBC Radio 1 chart show.

Jamil was born in Hampstead, London, to an Indian father and a Pakistani mother. She attended Queen's College, London, an independent girls' school, and later taught English to foreign students.

Jamil's television career began in 2009 when she was hired as a presenter for the T4 strand on Channel 4. She hosted various shows, including "Freshly Squeezed" alongside Nick Grimshaw. In 2012, she became the first solo female presenter of the BBC Radio 1 chart show.

In 2016, Jamil moved to the United States. She was cast as Tahani Al-Jamil in the NBC fantasy comedy series The Good Place, which premiered in September 2016. Her performance was well-received, and she became known for her comedic timing and unique character portrayal.

Jamil is also known for her activism, particularly in the areas of body positivity and mental health. She founded the I Weigh movement, which encourages people to focus on their achievements and self-worth rather than their physical appearance. The movement has gained significant traction on social media platforms.
