Jim Shooter (born September 27, 1951) is an American writer, editor, and publisher for various comic books. He is best known for his work as the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics from 1978 to 1987. Shooter has also worked for other major comic book companies, including DC Comics and Valiant Comics.

Early Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Jim Shooter was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began his career in the comic book industry at the age of 14, writing stories for DC Comics. His first published work appeared in Adventure Comics #346 in 1966, featuring the Legion of Super-Heroes. Shooter quickly became a regular writer for the series, contributing to the development of many key characters and storylines.

Marvel Comics[edit | edit source]

In 1978, Shooter became the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. During his tenure, he implemented several significant changes and oversaw the creation of numerous popular series and characters.
