Johnson & Wales University (JWU) is a private, nonprofit university located in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. It was founded in 1914 as a business school and has since expanded to offer a wide range of programs in various fields.

Johnson & Wales University was established by Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales, two pioneering women who recognized the need for a business school that would provide practical education to students. The school initially offered courses in secretarial skills, accounting, and business administration.

Over the years, JWU expanded its curriculum to include programs in culinary arts, hospitality management, fashion merchandising, and many other fields. Today, it is known for its strong emphasis on experiential learning and career-focused education.

JWU offers a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs across its four campuses in Providence, North Miami, Denver, and Charlotte.
