Jordi Sànchez i Picanyol (born 1 October 1964) is a Catalan politician and activist. He is known for his role as the president of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) and his involvement in the Catalan independence movement.

Jordi Sànchez was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He studied at the University of Barcelona, where he earned a degree in Political Science and Sociology.

Sànchez has been an active participant in the Catalan independence movement for many years. He served as the president of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) from 16 May 2015 until 17 November 2017. During his tenure, he played a significant role in organizing and promoting the 2017 Catalan independence referendum.

Following the 2017 Catalan independence referendum, Sànchez was arrested and charged with sedition by the Spanish government. He was imprisoned on 16 October 2017 and remained in custody for several years. His imprisonment became a focal point for the Catalan independence movement, with many activists and politicians calling for his release.

Jordi Sànchez is a member of the Junts per Catalunya political party. He has been involved in various political activities and campaigns aimed at achieving Catalan independence.
