Juiced (book)
Juiced is a book written by Jose Canseco, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player. The book was published in 2005 and is a controversial account of Canseco's career in MLB, with a particular focus on his use of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Overview[edit | edit source]
In Juiced, Canseco recounts his journey from a young baseball player in Cuba to a renowned MLB player in the United States. He provides a detailed account of his experiences with performance-enhancing drugs, which he claims were widespread in the sport during his career. Canseco also alleges that many other high-profile MLB players used these drugs.
Reception[edit | edit source]
The book received mixed reviews upon its release. Some praised Canseco for his honesty and for bringing attention to the issue of drug use in baseball, while others criticized him for his lack of evidence and for tarnishing the reputations of other players.
Impact[edit | edit source]
Juiced had a significant impact on the world of baseball. Following its publication, the MLB implemented stricter drug testing policies and penalties for players found to be using performance-enhancing drugs. The book also sparked a wider conversation about drug use in sports and led to several investigations into the allegations made by Canseco.
