Julie Hamos is an American politician and lawyer who served as the Director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services from April 2010 to January 2015. She was also a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from the 18th district from January 1999 to April 2010.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Julie Hamos was born in Budapest, Hungary. She immigrated to the United States with her family. Hamos earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and later obtained her law degree.
Career[edit | edit source]
Hamos began her career as a lawyer and later transitioned into politics. She was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1998, representing the 18th district. During her tenure, she focused on issues such as healthcare, transportation, and social services.
In April 2010, Hamos was appointed as the Director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services by Governor Pat Quinn. In this role, she oversaw the state's Medicaid program and other healthcare services until January 2015.

Julie Hamos is married to Alan Greiman, a retired judge. They reside in Evanston, Illinois.
