Jumu'atul-Wida (Arabic: جمعة الوداع) is the name given to the last Friday in the holy month of Ramadan before the festival of Eid al-Fitr. The term "Jumu'atul-Wida" translates to "Farewell Friday" in English. It holds significant importance for Muslims around the world as it marks the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan and the approach of Eid al-Fitr.

Significance[edit | edit source]

Jumu'atul-Wida is considered a highly auspicious day in Islam. On this day, Muslims gather in large numbers to offer the Jumu'ah (Friday) prayers, which are special congregational prayers held every Friday. The day is marked by increased devotion, prayer, and reflection. Many Muslims also engage in additional acts of worship, such as reading the Quran, making dua (supplication), and giving charity.

Observances[edit | edit source]

On Jumu'atul-Wida, Muslims attend the mosque for the Jumu'ah prayers, which include a khutbah (sermon) delivered by the imam. The khutbah often focuses on the themes of Ramadan, the importance of fasting, and the virtues of the last ten days of Ramadan, which include Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree).

Cultural Practices[edit | edit source]

In various cultures, Jumu'atul-Wida is observed with unique traditions and customs. In some regions, special meals are prepared, and families gather to break their fast together. It is also a time for Muslims to seek forgiveness and make amends with others before the end of Ramadan.
