Justin Currie was born and raised in Glasgow. He developed an interest in music at a young age, influenced by the diverse musical landscape of the city. Currie attended Glasgow School of Art, where he further honed his musical skills and began writing songs.
Del Amitri[edit | edit source]
In 1982, Currie co-founded the band Del Amitri with guitarist Iain Harvie. The band initially struggled to find commercial success, but they gained a following with their self-titled debut album released in 1985. Del Amitri's breakthrough came with their second album, "Waking Hours" (1989), which included the hit single "Nothing Ever Happens."
Throughout the 1990s, Del Amitri released several successful albums, including "Change Everything" (1992) and "Twisted" (1995). The band is known for their melodic rock sound and Currie's introspective lyrics.
Solo Career[edit | edit source]
After Del Amitri went on hiatus in 2002, Justin Currie embarked on a solo career. He released his debut solo album, "What Is Love For" in 2007, showcasing his talent as a songwriter and musician. Currie continued to release solo albums, including "The Great War" (2010) and "Lower Reaches" (2013).
