Kabale University (KAB) is a public university located in Kabale, Uganda. It is one of the public universities and tertiary institutions in the country, contributing significantly to the higher education sector. The university was established in 2002 as a private institution and was later taken over by the government of Uganda in 2015, making it a public university.

Kabale University was founded with the aim of providing accessible and quality higher education to the people of the Kigezi region and Uganda at large. Its transition from a private to a public university marked a significant milestone in its development, expanding its capacity to serve more students and enhance its academic programs.

The main campus of Kabale University is situated in Kabale, a town in the southwestern part of Uganda. The campus is known for its serene environment and scenic views, providing a conducive atmosphere for learning and research.
