- Karns is an unincorporated community located in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. It is situated to the northwest of the city of Knoxville, and is considered part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Area. The community is named after Thomas Karns, a school teacher who moved to the area in 1892.

- Karns is located in the northwestern part of Knox County, bordered by Oak Ridge to the west and Knoxville to the east. The community is primarily residential, with a mix of suburban development and rural farmland.
History[edit | edit source]
- Karns was originally known as Beaver Ridge, a name that is still used for a neighborhood in the community. The name was changed to Karns in honor of Thomas Karns, a school teacher who moved to the area in 1892 and played a significant role in the establishment of the local school system.
