Kenwood Vineyards
Kenwood Vineyards[edit | edit source]
Kenwood Vineyards is a renowned winery located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, California. Established in 1970, Kenwood Vineyards has become a significant player in the California wine industry, known for its commitment to producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
History[edit | edit source]
Kenwood Vineyards was founded by John Sheela and his brothers-in-law, Mike and Marty Lee, who purchased the property from the Pagani Brothers, who had been operating a winery on the site since 1906. The original winery was built in a former barn, which was converted into a winemaking facility. Over the years, Kenwood Vineyards expanded its operations and modernized its equipment to enhance wine production.
In 1996, Kenwood Vineyards was acquired by Korbel Champagne Cellars, which helped to further develop the brand and expand its distribution. In 2014, the winery was sold to Pernod Ricard, a global leader in the wine and spirits industry, which continues to manage the winery today.
Vineyards[edit | edit source]
Kenwood Vineyards sources grapes from over 125 different vineyards throughout Sonoma County, including the Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, and Dry Creek Valley. The diversity of vineyard locations allows Kenwood to produce a wide range of wines, each with distinct characteristics that reflect the unique microclimates and soil types of the region.
