Kininvie distillery
Kininvie Distillery[edit | edit source]
Kininvie Distillery is a Scottish whisky distillery located in Dufftown, Moray, Scotland. It was established in 1990 by William Grant & Sons Ltd., the same company that owns the nearby Balvenie and Glenfiddich distilleries. Kininvie is known for producing single malt Scotch whisky.
History[edit | edit source]
Kininvie Distillery was built on the grounds of the Balvenie Distillery in 1990 to meet the increasing demand for single malt whisky. It was initially intended to be used as a "workhorse" distillery, providing whisky for blending purposes. However, in recent years, Kininvie has gained recognition for its own single malt releases.
Production[edit | edit source]
Kininvie Distillery has a production capacity of approximately 200,000 liters of alcohol per year. The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills and oak casks for maturation. The water used in the production process comes from the nearby Balvenie Distillery's Robbie Dhu spring.
