KitKat is a chocolate bar brand, produced globally by Nestlé, except in the United States, where it is made under license by the Hershey Company. Each bar consists of wafer covered in milk chocolate. KitKat was created by Rowntree's of York, United Kingdom, which was acquired by Nestlé in 1988.

History

The product was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1935 as 'Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp'. It was renamed 'KitKat Chocolate Crisp' in 1937, and after World War II, it became simply 'KitKat'. The product has been sold globally since the 1950s.

Varieties

There are many different flavours of KitKat, including milk chocolate, white chocolate, and dark chocolate. In Japan, there are over 200 different flavours, including green tea, sake, and wasabi.

In Popular Culture

KitKat is well-known for its "Have a Break, Have a KitKat" slogan, which has been used since 1958. It is also the name of Android version 4.4.
