To prepare Kodi Gudla Pulusu, you will need the following ingredients:
- 500 grams of chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon of red chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of coriander powder
- 1 tablespoon of cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Preparation[edit | edit source]
Follow these steps to prepare Kodi Gudla Pulusu:
- Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
- Now, add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and mix them with the masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is partially cooked.
- Dilute the tamarind paste in water and add it to the pan. Mix well.
- Add salt to taste and cover the pan. Let it simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Kodi Gudla Pulusu is best served hot with steamed rice or roti. It can be enjoyed as a main course dish or as a side dish with other Andhra Pradesh delicacies.
