Komi is a term that refers to a group of people who reside in the northeastern part of Europe, specifically in the Komi Republic and Perm Krai of Russia. The Komi people are known for their unique culture, language, and history.

The history of the Komi people dates back to the 1st millennium AD. They have been known by various names throughout history, including Zyrians in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Komi people have a rich history that includes periods of independence, as well as periods of domination by other groups, such as the Novgorod Republic, the Grand Duchy of Moscow, and the Soviet Union.

The Komi people speak the Komi language, which is a member of the Uralic language family. There are two main dialects of the Komi language: Komi-Zyrian, which is spoken by the majority of Komi people, and Komi-Permyak, which is spoken in Perm Krai.

The culture of the Komi people is rich and diverse, with unique traditions in music, dance, and art. They are also known for their traditional clothing, which often features intricate embroidery and bright colors. As of the 2010 Russian Census, there were approximately 293,000 Komi people living in Russia. The majority of Komi people live in the Komi Republic, with smaller populations in Perm Krai and other regions of Russia.
