Korosten
Korosten (Ukrainian: Коростень) is a city located in the Zhytomyr Oblast of northern Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of the Korosten Raion and is one of the oldest cities in the region. The city is situated on the banks of the Uzh River.

Korosten has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. It was originally known as Iskorosten and was a significant settlement of the Drevlians, an East Slavic tribe. The city is famously associated with the Drevlians' rebellion against Kievan Rus' in the 10th century, which led to the death of Prince Igor of Kiev.
In the medieval period, Korosten was an important center of trade and culture. It was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 14th century and later became part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Following the partitions of Poland, Korosten was annexed by the Russian Empire.
During the Soviet era, Korosten developed into an industrial city. It was occupied by Nazi Germany during World War II and suffered significant damage. After the war, the city was rebuilt and continued to grow.
