Kuala Kangsar
Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of Perak, Malaysia. It is located at the downstream of Kangsar River where it flows into the Perak River. It is approximately 25 km northwest of Ipoh, Perak's capital city, and is 98 km southeast of George Town, Penang.

Kuala Kangsar is historically significant. It was the administrative center of Perak since the state was established in 1877. The first Malay College Kuala Kangsar, the premier school for Malays, was established here in 1905. The town is also known for its traditional crafts like labu sayong, earthenware pots that are gourd-shaped.
Attractions[edit | edit source]
Kuala Kangsar is known for its many historical buildings and structures. The Ubudiah Mosque, designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, is one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia. The Istana Kenangan, built in 1926, was a royal residence and now houses the Perak Royal Museum. The Istana Iskandariah, located on a hill overlooking the town, is the palace of the Perak Sultanate and the official residence of the Sultan of Perak.

The culture of Kuala Kangsar is a blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures. The town is known for its traditional Malay handicrafts, particularly labu sayong and tekat, the gold-embroidered tapestry. The Kuala Kangsar District is also known for its durian orchards.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Kuala Kangsar is primarily based on agriculture, particularly rubber and oil palm plantations. The town is also a regional center for services and commerce.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Kuala Kangsar is well-connected by road and rail. The North-South Expressway, the main interstate highway in Peninsular Malaysia, passes through the town. The Kuala Kangsar railway station is served by the KTM ETS service.
Education[edit | edit source]
Kuala Kangsar is home to several educational institutions, including the Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Clifford School, and the Sultan Azlan Shah Islamic College.
