Laplae District

Laplae District is a district (Amphoe) in the northern part of Uttaradit Province, Thailand.

Laplae District has a rich history dating back to the Sukhothai Kingdom period. The name "Laplae" means "hidden from sight" in the Thai language, which refers to its location in a valley surrounded by mountains.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Laplae District is located in the northern part of Uttaradit Province. It is surrounded by the following districts: Thong Saen Khan District to the north, Phichai District to the east, Mueang Uttaradit District to the south, and Nam Pat District to the west. The district's terrain is mostly mountainous, with the Phlueng Range running through it.

Administration[edit | edit source]

The district is divided into six sub-districts (Tambon), which are further subdivided into 78 villages (Muban). Laplae itself has township (Thesaban Tambon) status and covers parts of tambons Laplae and Tha Sak.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of Laplae District is primarily based on agriculture, with major crops including rice, fruit, and vegetables. The district is also known for its production of Laplae Durian, a unique variety of durian that is smaller and sweeter than other types.

Laplae District is known for its rich cultural heritage, including traditional Thai customs, festivals, and cuisine. The district is particularly famous for its annual Durian Festival, which celebrates the harvest of the Laplae Durian.
