The Lehigh Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) is a designated wine grape-growing region located in eastern Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated in the Lehigh Valley region, which encompasses parts of Lehigh and Northampton counties.
Geography[edit | edit source]
The Lehigh Valley AVA covers an area of approximately 198 square miles (513 square kilometers). It is bordered by the Blue Mountain to the north and the South Mountain to the south, with the Lehigh River running through the valley. The region's diverse topography, with its rolling hills and fertile soils, provides an ideal environment for grape cultivation.

The Lehigh Valley AVA experiences a humid continental climate, characterized by hot summers and cold winters. The moderating effect of the nearby rivers helps to mitigate extreme temperature fluctuations, creating a favorable climate for grape growing. The average annual temperature in the region is around 52°F (11°C), with average summer temperatures ranging from 70°F to 90°F (21°C to 32°C).
