Leong Yew Koh
Leong Yew Koh (22 August 1888 – 12 January 1963) was a prominent Malaysian politician and diplomat. He was the first Governor of Malacca after the independence of Malaya from the British Empire.

Leong Yew Koh was born on 22 August 1888 in Kuala Lumpur, Federated Malay States. He received his early education in Kuala Lumpur before pursuing higher education in Hong Kong and later in London, where he studied law.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Leong Yew Koh was actively involved in the political scene of Malaya. He was a founding member of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA), a major political party in Malaysia. His contributions to the party and the country's independence movement were significant.
Governor of Malacca[edit | edit source]
In 1957, following the independence of Malaya, Leong Yew Koh was appointed as the first Governor of Malacca. He served in this position until 1959. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the development and administration of the state.
