Liothyronine sodium
Liothyronine Sodium is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3). It is used to treat hypothyroidism and myxedema coma, and is marketed under the brand name Cytomel (among others).

Liothyronine Sodium is used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. It is also used to treat myxedema coma, a severe form of hypothyroidism characterized by mental and physical sluggishness.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Liothyronine Sodium works by replacing or supplementing the thyroid hormones that are normally produced by the thyroid gland. It is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3).
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Common side effects of Liothyronine Sodium include palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, shortness of breath, tremors, headache, nervousness, irritability, sleep disturbances, excessive sweating, heat intolerance, diarrhea, and menstrual irregularities.
Interactions[edit | edit source]
Liothyronine Sodium can interact with certain medications, including anticoagulants, antidepressants, and insulin. It can also interact with certain foods, such as those high in fiber, and certain medical conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease.
