Awareness ribbons are symbols meant to show support or raise consciousness for a cause. Different colors and patterns are associated with different issues. This article provides a list of awareness ribbons, the causes they represent, and their significance.

Red Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Red Ribbon is a symbol for several causes, most notably HIV/AIDS awareness. It is also used to represent heart disease, stroke, substance abuse, and the fight against drug abuse and drunk driving.

Pink Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Pink Ribbon is internationally recognized as a symbol of breast cancer awareness and support for those affected by the disease.

Yellow Ribbon[edit | edit source]

Traditionally, the Yellow Ribbon is tied around trees to show support for military forces, especially those deployed overseas. It also represents awareness for suicide prevention, endometriosis, and missing children.

Black Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Black Ribbon is often associated with mourning and remembrance. It is also used to represent melanoma awareness, anti-terrorism, and gun control advocacy.

Purple Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Purple Ribbon stands for a variety of causes, including pancreatic cancer, domestic violence, animal abuse, Alzheimer's disease, and lupus.

Blue Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Blue Ribbon is used to promote awareness of several conditions and social issues, including child abuse prevention, colon cancer, bullying prevention, and free speech.

Green Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Green Ribbon symbolizes support for mental health awareness, kidney cancer, Lyme disease, and organ donation.

Orange Ribbon[edit | edit source]

An Orange Ribbon is used to raise awareness for leukemia, hunger, cultural diversity, and self-injury awareness.

Teal Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Teal Ribbon represents ovarian cancer, sexual assault, and PTSD awareness, among other causes.

White Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The White Ribbon is a symbol for peace, as well as campaigns against domestic violence and violence against women. It also represents lung cancer awareness.

Gray Ribbon[edit | edit source]

A Gray Ribbon is associated with diabetes, asthma, and brain cancer awareness.

Lavender Ribbon[edit | edit source]

The Lavender Ribbon is a general symbol for cancer awareness. It can also represent epilepsy, and foster care.
