Lodging
Lodging or accommodation is a type of residential accommodation where people sleep for a period of time to stay away from their usual residence. People who travel and stay away from home for more than a day need lodging for sleep, rest, food, safety, shelter from cold temperatures or rain, storage of luggage and access to common household functions.
Types of lodging[edit | edit source]
Lodging is done in various places. A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. Motels are hotels designed for motorists, and have parking areas for motor vehicles. Lodging is also provided in hostels, which are low-budget accommodations where travelers can rent a bed, usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge, and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, and private rooms may also be available. Another type of lodging is a bed and breakfast, also known as B&B, which is a small lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodation and breakfast, but usually does not offer other meals.
