Loma Linda University

Loma Linda University (LLU) is a Seventh-day Adventist coeducational health sciences university located in Loma Linda, California, United States. The University comprises eight schools and the Faculty of Graduate Studies offer more than 100 degree and certificate and programs. LLU also offers distance education. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system.

Loma Linda University was established in 1905 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church as the Loma Linda Sanitarium, a health resort and hospital. It was later renamed to College of Medical Evangelists in 1910, and finally to Loma Linda University in 1961.

The main campus is located in Loma Linda, California. It includes the Loma Linda University Medical Center, the Children's Hospital, the East Campus, and various other medical and dental clinics.

Notable alumni[edit | edit source]

Several notable individuals in the field of healthcare have graduated from Loma Linda University, including Ellsworth Wareham, a pioneer in the field of cardiothoracic surgery, and Joan Coggin, who co-founded the Loma Linda University Overseas Heart Surgery Team.
