Lorain is a city located in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. It is situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie and is approximately 30 miles west of Cleveland. With a population of over 64,000 residents, Lorain is the tenth-largest city in Ohio.

Lorain was first settled in 1807 and officially incorporated as a city in 1874. The city's name is derived from the province of Lorraine in France. Throughout its history, Lorain has been a major industrial center, particularly known for its steel production. The city played a significant role in the growth of the American steel industry during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The city was home to the US Steel Lorain Works, which was one of the largest steel mills in the United States.
