Louisa County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,235. The county seat is Wapello. Louisa County is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Louisa County is located in the southeastern part of Iowa, with its eastern border formed by the Mississippi River. It covers a total area of 418 square miles, of which 402 square miles is land and 16 square miles is water.

Louisa County was formed on December 7, 1836 and named after Louisa Massey, the first white woman to live in the area.
