Lucyna Ćwierczakiewiczowa (1829–1901) was a renowned Polish author, best known for her cookbooks and household management guides. Her works have had a significant impact on Polish cuisine and domestic culture.

Born in 1829 in Warsaw, Poland, Ćwierczakiewiczowa was raised in a well-to-do family. Her father was a respected lawyer and her mother was known for her culinary skills, which she passed on to her daughter.

Career[edit | edit source]

Ćwierczakiewiczowa's first cookbook, 365 Dinners for 5 Zlotys, was published in 1858. The book was a huge success and went through numerous editions. It was not just a cookbook, but also a guide to running a household, with advice on everything from managing servants to preserving food.

In addition to her cookbooks, Ćwierczakiewiczowa also wrote a popular household management guide, A Practical Woman, which covered topics such as child-rearing, home healthcare, and etiquette.

Ćwierczakiewiczowa's works have had a lasting impact on Polish cuisine and domestic culture. Her recipes and advice continue to be used and referenced today, and she is often referred to as the "mother of Polish cuisine".
