Lufkin is a city located in Angelina County, Texas, United States. It is the county seat and the largest city in the county. With a population of approximately 35,000 residents, Lufkin serves as a regional hub for East Texas.

Lufkin was founded in 1882 as a stop on the Houston, East and West Texas Railway. The city was named after Abraham P. Lufkin, a cotton merchant and Galveston city councilman. Lufkin's strategic location along the railroad line contributed to its growth as a center for the timber industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
