Luigi Lavazza (1859–1949) was an Italian businessman and the founder of Lavazza, one of the world's most renowned and popular coffee brands. Born in the rural region of Murisengo, Italy, Lavazza moved to Turin in 1895 where he started his business venture that would later become a global coffee empire.

Luigi Lavazza was born in 1859 in Murisengo, a small town in the Piedmont region of Italy. He grew up in a farming family, which cultivated his deep appreciation for agriculture and the cultivation of coffee beans.

In 1895, Lavazza moved to Turin, a bustling city known for its vibrant coffee culture. He purchased a small grocery store, Paissa Olivero, where he began to blend coffee as a hobby. His unique blends quickly gained popularity, transforming his small grocery store into a popular destination for coffee lovers.

In 1927, Lavazza officially founded Luigi Lavazza S.p.A., focusing exclusively on coffee roasting and distribution. He was among the first to offer vacuum-packed coffee in Italy, a move that significantly extended the product's shelf life and improved its distribution potential.

Today, Lavazza is one of the leading coffee companies in the world, known for its wide range of coffee products. The company remains family-owned, with the fourth generation of the Lavazza family currently at the helm.
