MR-2096
MR-2096 is a synthetic opioid analgesic drug, which is a member of the benzomorphan family of opioids. It was developed in the 1960s and is used in scientific research. MR-2096 is a potent analgesic, around 5 times stronger than morphine in its analgesic effects.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
MR-2096 is a benzomorphan, which is a type of opioid that is structurally distinct from the more commonly known opioids such as morphine and fentanyl. Benzomorphans are characterized by a benzene ring fused to a morphinan skeleton. MR-2096 is a synthetic opioid, meaning it is not derived from the opium poppy but is instead synthesized in a laboratory.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
MR-2096 acts as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, which is the primary site of action for the most commonly used opioids. Activation of the mu-opioid receptor is responsible for the analgesic effects of MR-2096. Like other opioids, MR-2096 also has the potential for addiction, dependence, and withdrawal.
Medical Use[edit | edit source]
While MR-2096 has been used in scientific research, it is not currently approved for medical use in humans. Its potent analgesic effects and potential for addiction and dependence make it a subject of interest in the study of pain management and addiction.
