Macon County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 14,740. The county seat is Oglethorpe. The county was created on December 14, 1837, and named in honor of North Carolina's Nathaniel Macon, a patriot during the American Revolutionary War.
