Mainland, Pennsylvania
Mainland, Pennsylvania is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The community is part of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, which is the eighth-largest metropolitan area in the United States.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Mainland is located in the eastern part of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is surrounded by the communities of Harleysville, Lansdale, and Kulpsville. The community is primarily residential, with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments.
History[edit | edit source]
The area that is now Mainland was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native American tribe. European settlers arrived in the area in the 18th century, and the community grew slowly over the next two centuries. The name "Mainland" comes from the fact that the community is located on the "mainland" side of the Skippack Creek, as opposed to the "island" side.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 United States Census, Mainland had a population of approximately 5,000 residents. The community is diverse, with residents of various ethnic and racial backgrounds. The median household income in Mainland is higher than the national average, reflecting the overall affluence of Montgomery County.
