Makis Voridis (born 23 August 1964) is a Greek lawyer and politician. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament and has held various ministerial positions in the Greek government. Voridis is affiliated with the New Democracy party.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Makis Voridis was born in Athens, Greece. He studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and later pursued postgraduate studies in law at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Voridis began his political career as a member of the Hellenic Front, a far-right political party. He later joined the Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) and was elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 2007. In 2012, he left LAOS and joined the New Democracy party.

Ministerial Positions[edit | edit source]

Voridis has held several ministerial positions in the Greek government. He served as the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Networks from 2011 to 2012. In 2014, he was appointed as the Minister for Health, a position he held until 2015. In 2019, he was appointed as the Minister for Rural Development and Food.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Throughout his political career, Voridis has been a controversial figure due to his past affiliations with far-right groups and his statements on various social issues. His political journey from far-right parties to a mainstream conservative party has been a subject of public debate in Greece.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Makis Voridis is married and has two children. He is fluent in Greek, English, and French.
