History

Malt Shovel Brewery was established in 1988 by Chuck Hahn, a renowned brewer in Australia. Hahn had a vision of creating a brewery that focused on producing high-quality craft beers using traditional brewing methods. The brewery was initially named the Hahn Brewery and was located in the suburb of Camperdown.

In 1998, Lion Nathan acquired the Hahn Brewery and renamed it Malt Shovel Brewery. Lion Nathan recognized the potential of the craft beer market and saw the opportunity to expand the brewery's operations. Under Lion Nathan's ownership, Malt Shovel Brewery continued to grow and gain popularity among beer enthusiasts.
